The TETHEROW TREEHOUSE
The Project

The Tetherow Treehouse, a home that brings the outdoors in through stunning architectural design and masterful window placement, creating the sensation of living among the trees. This modern retreat blends seamlessly with Bend’s natural landscape, offering layered, open living spaces, floor-to-ceiling views, and a rich, organic palette of textures.

  • The Tetherow Treehouse - a home that redefines what it means to live in harmony with nature. Nestled in a prestigious neighborhood on the way to Mount Bachelor, this stunning home is perched on a naturally sloping lot, creating an experience of dwelling in the trees. Each window is meticulously placed, framing the serene landscape while creating a profound sense of elevation and immersion within the forest. The interplay of glass and structural design fosters a striking sensation of floating amid the towering pines and sun-dappled leaves.

The architecture is a masterful balance of modernity and organic flow. Dark panel siding and a sleek metal roof allow the home’s exterior to blend seamlessly into the natural environment. Retaining walls of textured concrete provide strength and continuity, echoing the rugged terrain around it. Inside, an elegant contrast unfolds: expansive, open spaces marked by sloped wood-panel ceilings and concrete floor tiles imbue a sense of warmth and airiness. This aesthetic journey is highlighted by an artful repetition of textures, organic finishes that tie the entire interior together.

The living spaces are crafted to inspire a new way of perceiving connectedness within a home. The kitchen, dining, and primary living area flow together in a spacious expanse, yet remain layered in a subtle, multi-level arrangement. A recessed living room, gently sunken just below the kitchen and dining area, exudes an inviting openness, while a secondary family room is only a few steps up- its proximity creating continuity, yet adding a playful element of separation. This layout cultivates a unique sense of discovery, a multi-dimensional design that surprises and delights while enhancing daily living.

The Tetherow Treehouse features three luxurious bedrooms, three thoughtfully designed bathrooms, and a dedicated home office space. Throughout, floor-to-ceiling windows with minimalistic frames erase the boundary between indoors and out, immersing each room in the surrounding wilderness.

The choice of materials and textures furthers the home's sense of tranquility and subtle luxury. Concrete countertops with integrated sinks, dark matte finishes, and concrete tiles underscore the organic, tactile quality of each surface, creating a muted, harmonious palette. Material repetition- achieved without overwhelming the senses- lends a cohesive rhythm to the home. Here, the architect has achieved something extraordinary: capturing and framing the trees, shadows, and sky with windows that give an almost cinematic quality to the passage of time and light.

In every way, the Tetherow Treehouse is a celebration of nature, modern design, and the art of spatial layering. It invites to savor the sensory experience of each room, while feeling deeply, intrinsically connected to the forest and sky beyond.
